Hello from the world of Instructional Design!

Hello to this wonderful community!

My name is Heather and I am an instructional designer located in the American Midwest. I currently work for a company whose main product line is providing washers and dryers for residential properties, businesses, universities, and more. I have been using Vyond for a little under a year to create training videos and some internal marketing communications.

I’m hoping this community can help me develop my skills in Vyond and give me fun, new, creative ideas for delivering content to my learners in ways that are meaningful and engaging.

Some of my biggest challenges with Vyond are working with shapes, searching for assets, and the audio section of the timeline. The view for audio in Vyond is a little less than ideal, and working with shapes is more like working with images of shapes than with actual vectors. As an instructional designer, I need to create call-outs on a lot of images and videos, and it would be wonderful if the shapes worked more like they do in powerpoint and other applications. Lastly, sometimes searching for character poses, props, and other assets can be a challenge due to how specific the search functionality is. For example, “pointing down” might give me limited/zero results for what I am looking for, but “mentoring” will give me a character pose where the character is pointing down. Probably not the cleanest or most specific example, but I think anyone who has been in this position knows what I mean.

My time here would be most valuable if I made some real social connections with whom I can bounce ideas off of and are as excited about learning content creation as I am.

I actually have a few feature requests that I think would really up Vyond’s game (aside from better shape workflow, search functionality, and audio timeline)!

• Dark Mode for working in Vyond Studio: The bright intense white of the background in Studio can give me headaches and make it very difficult to focus when I am spending multiple hours working on a video.

• Toggle Layer Visibility: The ability to toggle visibility of assets in a scene would be immensely helpful when I am adjust object placement.

• Pop-out/Dock Timeline: The ability to pop the timeline out of the current window and display it on a second monitor while I do my visual work in the scene would alleviate so many headaches.
