Using a driver and GPS analogy for employee-manager relationships in training courses
I'm currently developing a performance and development course for my organisation.
To help explain the relationship between employees and managers, we built the course around a simple analogy:
The employee is the driver. The manager is the GPS.
The employee decides where they want to go and takes the wheel, while the manager provides guidance, helps navigate challenges, and keeps them moving towards their goals.
These short videos are used throughout the course to reinforce that concept and create a consistent learning journey from goal setting through to ongoing performance conversations.
I'd love to hear what you think. Feedback and ideas for improvement are always welcome! Ps I live in Australia (we drive on the other side of the road 😁
