Why do some props allow masking while others do not?

Can any explain why some shapes/objects from the Props library allow masking and others do not?

For example, I have an onscreen graphic, I type ‘circle’ or ‘rectangle’ and add that to the stage and attempt to use to mask my graphic, some will not create a mask. Can an indicator be added to show which ones do?
